FLAG DAY

Wednesday, June 14th is Flag Day – We would like to personally thank The Delaware Valley Vietnam Veterans and Its' Members for putting on the 21st Annual Donald W. Jones Flag Memorial Ceremony and Display. Over 58,000 Flags are Placed, One for every American Service Member Killed or Missing In Action In Vietnam.  The Memorial is in The Shape And Exact Size Of The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington D.C.  It is Because of them and their Love for this Country that members volunteer hundreds of hours to show Respect and Honor for our American Flag and the lives it represents protecting it.

The Delaware Valley Vietnam Veterans invite everyone to the Flag Memorial Ceremony this Sunday, June 11th at 1:00pm at the Falls Township Community Park.

To Dv3, On Behalf Of Bristol Township Council, Myself And Residents, Thank You For All You Have Done.  It is because of your hard work we continue to know how important our American Flag is.

Please Take Time To Display The American Flag And To Remember The Men And Women Who Died So We Can Enjoy The Freedoms We Have Today.

Also, Through The $60,000 Dced Grant, Next Week, Laran Bronze Will Begin Cleaning And Waxing Of The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Sculpture In Front Of The Township Building.

PA TURNPIKE / I-95 INTERCHANGE PROJECT

TOWNSHIP OFFICIALS MET WITH REPRESENTATIVE TONY MELIO; AS Well As Jay Roth, The Engineer On The Turnpike/I-95 Interchange Project; Don Steele Of The Pa Turnpike Commission; A Representative From Senator Tomlinson's Office At Melio's Office On May 30th to Discuss The Possible Future Use Of The Peter Lumber Site. The Turnpike Commission Is Roughly Planning On Using This Entire Site Of Prime Commercial Property For Stormwater Management. During This Meeting Possible Alternatives Were Suggested And Mr. Roth Will Look Into These Sites And Report Back To The Township Within The Next Two Weeks.

Although This Project Has Been In The Works For Sometimes, Plan To Use This Property For Stormwater Management Were Not Revealed Until Late Last Year. The Township Would Like To Thank Representative Melio And Senator Tomlinson For Organizing This Meeting And For Their Continue Support To Save This Piece Of Property For Commercial Development.

CONTRACTORS WORKING WITHOUT PERMITS

With The Construction Season In Full Swing, The Township Building And Planning Department Has Been Cracking Down On Residents And Contractors Performing Work Without Permits The Current Penalty For Performing Work Without Permits Is Double The Permit Fee. However, Inspectors Are Catching The Same Contractors And/Or Residents Working Without Permits Over And Over Again.

To Help Deter These Repeat Offenders, I Would Like Council To Consider Enacting A Resolution In Order To Set The Penalty Fees For Working Without Permits As Follows:

1ST OFFENSE – DOUBLE THE PERMIT FEE

2ND OFFENSE – DOUBLE THE PERMIT FEE AND $200.00 FINE

3RD OFFENSE – DOUBLE THE PERMIT FEE AND $400.00 FINE

4TH OFFENSE AND SUBSEQUENT OFFENSE AFTER – DOUBLE THE PERMIT FEE AND THE MAXIMUM $600.00 FINE PER OFFENSE.

This Resolution Will Help Re-Enforce To Residents And Contractors That Performing Work Without Permits Is A Serious Offense And Will Not Be Tolerated In Bristol Township. This Will Help Residents And Business Owners To Better Ensure Good Craftsmanship And Safe Structures In The Township.

If You See A Contractor Or Resident Performing Work Without A Permit Please Contact The Township's Building And Planning Department At 215-687-3680.

ZONING ORDINANCE

I Would Like Council To Consider Revising The Zoning Ordinance To Increase The Lot Size Requirement For Single Family Homes In The Township. Increasing The Lot Size Would Have The Effect Of Decreasing The Number Of New Homes That Could Be Developed On A Tract Of Land. This Would Require Other Changes To The Ordinance, Including Set Back Requirements, Building Area Requirements And Impervious Surface Coverage. If You Want To Move Forward With This, Glenn, Gary And Russ Should Work Together On This, Along With Consulting With Bucks County Planning Commission.
