MAYOR FENTON REPORT
FOR 11/10/05
I Would Like To Thank
All The Residents Of Bristol
Township For Supporting
Me In This Past Election. I Am Proud And Honored To Be Your Mayor Again. I Will
Continue To Serve You With Pride And Dignity And Make Sure You Receive The Best
Services In Bucks
County. That Being Said,
I Am Initiating A New Open Door Policy On Meeting
Nights. Once I Have Given My Report, I Will Meet Individually With Residents In
My Office To Hear Their Concerns One On One. This Will Allow My Staff And I The Ability To Address Concerns And Complaints In A
Faster, More Personal Manner. It Will Enable Council To Conduct The Important
Business On Their Agenda Without Distractions.
VETERANS DAY
Tomorrow, November
11, 2005 Is Veterans Day, In Honor Of Our Veterans At 1:00pm There Will Be The
Dedication Of Route 413 Changing The Name Of New Rodgers Road To Veterans Highway. It Will Be Held At The
Pumping Station With Parking At The Cemetery. I Would Like To Take This Opportunity To Read The Proclamation Adopted By Council
On January 20, 2005 And To Thank Senator “Tommy” Tomlinson And Representative
Tony Melio For Their Efforts In Making Sure Our Veterans Will Forever Be
Remembered.
PUBLIC SAFETY
I Have Spoken With
All Of The Council Members Regarding The Problems Residents Of The Kenwood
Section Are Having With The Septa Bus Using Their Neighborhood As A Cut
Through. The Speeding, Traffic And Noise That The Residents Are Experiencing Is
Not Acceptable. I Have Written To Septa And To State Representative Melio And
State Senator Tomlinson To No Avail. Septa Has Indicated That They Will Not
Return To The Original Route.
I Am Formally Asking For A Council Vote To Support My Efforts To Protect The
Residents Of This Neighborhood.
GANG AWARENESS
CLASS
The 4th
Gang Awareness Class Is Tentatively Scheduled To Be Held On Tuesday, November
22nd, 6:30pm At Ben Franklin School And Is Being Sponsored By The
Mayor, Chief Mcandrew, And The District Attorney’s
Office; Being Presented By John Antinoro, Special
Investigation Division, New Jersey Department Of Corrections. This Will Be A Six Municipality
Project To Include Bristol Township, Bristol Boro, Bensalem Township, Fall
Township, Morrisville,
And Tullytown Boro. We Are
Also Including The Mayors, Council Persons, School Officials, Teachers, School
Board Members, Community Town Watch Groups, Civic Groups, Bristol Township
Weed & Seed Committee, And Students.
REDISTRICTING
I Have Had Many
Complaints From Parents And Grandparents Regarding The
School’s Redistricting Plan. With Parents’ Working To Make Ends Meet, The New
Plan Has Had Unintended Impacts. I Am Personally Urging The School
District To Look At The Plan To See If The Goals Can Be Met
Without The Unintended Problems For The Parents And Caregivers. I Am Requesting
Council In Support Of The Mayor To Send A Letter To The School District Asking
The Redistricting Be Put Back The Way It Was. Our Children Are Being Driven
Past One School And Driven Across Town To Another. This Is A Big Inconvenience
And Disrupts The Working Family.
OPERATION CLEAN
BLITZ – SPECIAL OPERATIONS TASK FORCE TO INCLUDE THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, CODE
ENFORCEMENT, PUBLIC WORKS AND OUR FIRE INSPECTORS
We Will Again Be
Putting All Our Government Entities Together To Enforce All Our Codes And
Ordinances To The Fullest Extent To Clean Up Both Commercial And Residential
Areas, Section By Section. I Have Spoken To Our New Department Heads, And Our
New Public Safety Director Who Will Coordinate These Efforts.
UTILITIES DOING
WORK IN THE TOWNSHIP
On My October 2003
Report To Council I Requested An Ordinance Relating To Utilities Doing Work In
The Township’s Right-Of-Ways And Roads. It Was To Require That The Utility Give
Us A Two Year Projected Work Schedule So That The Work They Do Does Not Conflict
With Our Resurfacing Program. Also, The Ordinance Would Establish Higher
Standards For Restoring Township Roads Once They Are Opened. Finally, If A
Percentage Threshold Is Met, The Utility Would Be Required To Resurface The Entire Road. It Has
Come To My Attention That Aqua And Peco Have Worked
On The Following Roads: Glenrose Ave. And Arthur Ave.;
Melinda Dr.
And Steele Ave.
They Have Left Them Unsatisfactory. I Am Requesting That Our Engineer And
Public Works Superintendent To Inspect And Give Me A Report.
